You will see two training scores at the end of each training session: your Score this Session and your Total Score.
Your Score this Session is a combined score for all tasks during your last training session. Larger scores generally indicate better performance, while lower scores indicate you found the exercises more challenging. Average LACE session scores typically fall between 60 and 120 points per session. However, remember that the difficulty of the content and your interest and energy level changes daily, which can affect your score. In addition, each LACE session contains a different combination of exercise types.
While it is good to visualize your progress, the best way to understand how LACE training is helping you is to apply your new listening skills in real-world situations.
The Quick Speech-in-Noise (QuickSIN™) test is completed during training sessions 1, 6, and 11. The QuickSIN is a standardized test that quickly and easily measures your ability to hear in the presence of background noise. It is used frequently by hearing healthcare professionals and researchers alike. The score you receive identifies the degree of speech in noise loss (SNR loss) you are experiencing. Lower scores indicate less SNR loss, while higher scores indicate more SNR loss.
Score Range | Degree of SNR Loss |
---|---|
0-3 db | Normal/Near normal |
3-7 dB: | Mild SNR loss |
7-15 dB | Moderate SNR loss |
> 15 dB | Severe SNR loss |
This assessment identifies problems your hearing loss may be causing you. A higher score on this scale means that you perceive more problems associated with your hearing loss.
Score Range | Potential Affects |
---|---|
0-16 | Little to no impairment |
17-42 | Mild to moderate impairment |
43-100 | Significant impairment |
This assessment determines how confident you are in your ability to effectively communicate in different situations. A higher score on this scale means that you feel more confident.
Score Range | Confidence Level |
---|---|
50-60 | Confident |
40-49 | Cautiously Certain |
30-39 | Tentative |
0-29 | Insecure |
